SAN DIEGO, CA.- London based actor, John Boyega, will visit sunny California during The San Diego Film Festival, which will take place from September 30th to October 4th, in order to receive the Rising Star Award, just a few months before one of the biggest premieres of the millennium.
This is not the first time that the 20-something actor visits San Diego, given that he has attended to Comic Con venues (in 2011 for Attack the Block and of course, this year for Star Wars: The Force Awakens). The first film, which introduced Boyega to the industry, is a jewel of British science fiction films, however, it is anticipated that his position as a genre supernova will be achieved once the seventh episode of the Lucasfilm saga hits theaters in December.
The award will be given on October 1st at La Jolla's Museum of Contemporary Art during Variety's Night of Stars. The gala will be hoisted by film critics Jeffrey Lyons and Ben Lyons, featuring a red carpet and reception afterwards.
This year's awards will also honor Adrien Brody (Cinema Vanguard Award), Geena Davis (Reframed Humanitarian Award), Brit Marling (Auteur Award) and the winner of the Chris Brinker Award, who has yet to be announced. Admission costs $150 dlls and can be acquired by clicking here.
