Ted Cruz Will Only Welcome Christian Refugees

The Republican candidate wants to take precautions regarding "opportunistic terrorism"

Ted Cruz is not known for his religious openness nor his hospitality towards immigrants, a reputation that he has reinforced with one of his most recent statements. The subject came up during a interview with the Des Moines Register, where he was asked about his opinion regarding the Islamophobic comments of his contender, Ben Carson.

Although Cruz acknowledges that it's unconstitutional to deny presidency to someone based on religious beliefs (Carson thinks Islamism is inconsistent with American principles), Texas former Senator did made a distinction when it came down to the refugee crisis.

Cruz' criteria is based on the alleged risk that some refugees might be "terrorists", which is why they should only allow Syrians devoted to a Christian faith into the US. However, the Republican candidate suggested that Muslims should establish a village in a country in the Middle East.

"I think Christians are under very different circumstances, given that Christians are being chased," he expressed. "They are being chased directly because of their faith and Obama's administration has abandoned them."

This is not the fist time the Cuban descent politician with victimizes believers for their religion based on the exclusion of a minority. Cruz played this card just last month during a very uncomfortable encounter with actress Ellen Page, while attending an event focused on LGBTQ rights.
