COTUCO Invites Baja To The First Asian Cuisine Festival in Tijuana

This event will take place on October 3rd on Avenida Revolucion

TIJUANA.- The Tijuana Tourism and Conventions Committee (COTUCO) alongside the local Chinese consul, invite all residents to the First Asian Cuisine Festival, which will take place this upcoming October 3rd, on Avenida Revolución between 1st and 2nd street starting at 12:00 pm.

The event has as main purpose to promote Chinese culture in the city, not just with food, but also with craftsmanship and culture.

"The festival main purpose is for Tijuana's society to get to know asian cuisine, Chinese traditions…We want them to know who are the providers in Chinese restaurants, making this festival a bit different to the ones that take place on Avenida Revolución," expressed Angel Badiola Montaño, President of COTUCO Tijuana.

The First Asian Cuisine Festival, will feature the presence of 10 Chinese restaurants and 6 merchants of Chinese crafts, in order to enrich the festival's content.

The Republic of China's General Consul, Wan Jian, assured that the festival will seek to present the best out of Chinese food, although this isn't something new in the region given that is part of Tijuana and Baja's culture.

"I believe the festival has two main purposes: firstly, to show how Chinese food is already part of Tijuana's daily life, it is and always be an important element among its residents; and secondly, to contribute with a small demonstration of oriental cuisine in order to promote and increase Tijuana's image as an internationally tourist city," mentioned Wan Jian.

Organizing President of Expo Artesanal, Javier Lechuga Leal, informed that all preparation for the festival are ready and that we can expect a great environment with incredible flavors or Chinese cuisine, craft beer, photo expo, Chinese dragons and Chinese couture.

Given that the festival is the first one in its kind to arrive to Tijuana, an exact attendance couldn't be provided, however, they estimate an approximate of 2,000 people, hoping to break a record.
