The man who bought Google for a minute has a name and it's Sammay Ved, a former worker of the company.
Recently, Google was offering a domain buy service, Ved was testing some random domains when he discord that Google.com was available and on sale. The sale was made and Google Search's control panel (in charge of supervising search results) was quickly updated. A minute later, Ved received an email that said his purchase has been cancelled.
Sammay's purchase wasn't part of any vengeance of the sort, it was mere curiosity of knowing if it was possible to buy the world's most used domain. "At least now I can say I am the man who own Google.com for a minute," he posted on his LinkedIn account, where his story was followed up with images that captured the moment of purchase and cancellation.
After his immediate return of $12 dlls, Ved reported the incident to the company, given that for one entire minute he had access to site's webmasters controls. An error that could have cause global panic.
This is not the first incident of its kind to ever occur. In 2003, Microsoft forgot to renew their domain Hotmail.co.uk., and someone purchased it. Microsoft contacted the buyer to have it returned.
