TIJUANA.- With the purpose of positioning Baja California as one of the most important culinary tourist destinations of Mexico, Baja's Secretary of Tourism (SECTURE) has been promoting the upcoming "Baja Culinary Fest".
In this sense, Oscar Jesus Escobedo Carignan; SECTURE's current head, said the event will take place starting October 8th to the 11th at the Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) where workshops, lectures, contests, culinary exhibitions and themed dinners will be held.
"In these five years, Baja Culinary Fest has undoubtedly become the most important culinary event in the northwestern region of Mexico, putting together the best chefs, cooks and producers of not only Baja California, but of the rest of the country and the United States as well; what were seeking for this 5th edition is to consolidate it into the top five and eventually reach the top spot, since we have everything to do it," he said.
Escobedo Carignan explained that this event is a great opportunity for students and foodies in general to get involved in the culinary movement that has been characteristic of Baja California in recent years and has resulted in positioning the state as one of the country's leading culinary tourism destinations.
Which is why the state government through SECTURE, has invested about a million dollars in promoting Baja Californias cuisine and in events related to it as well as the participation of 15 exhibitions in and outside Mexico in 2015.
The state official added that from October 8th to the 11th, a free exhibition with restaurants, wineries, craft breweries and other countryside and sea producers will be set up at the CECUTs main plaza with the purpose of bringing this rich variety to Baja California residents.
Additionally there will be some interesting talks and workshops led by the best chefs in Mexico and the United States, youll be able to purchase tickets with discounted prices for students and also check out the events complete program at www.bajaculinaryfest.com
