The Pope plans to visit Mexico in 2016

There are no dates or schedule set yet

MEXICO.- The Vatican's spokesperson, Federico Lombardi, mentioned to Televisa's correspondent, Valentina Alazraki, that Pope Francis will visit Mexico next year, however, there aren't any dates or a schedule set yet.

CNN Mexico has gotten in touch with the Apostolic Nunciature in Mexico, even though there hasn't been any other type of confirmation of what Lombardi said. The Argentinian pontiff did state that he had considered visiting the country in September before going to the US.

"I was thinking of going into the US through Mexico at first, through Ciudad Juarez's border, right? But going to Mexico without going to the Guadalupana would've been a slap in the face" he said, in front of the international media while on board the "Shepherd One" while he traveled from Cuba to Washington.
