The end of the year is upon us and and San Diego Red's editorial team has chosen the cream of the crop of culinary experiences we had this year. However, we cannot do this list without our readers' opinion. For this year, we decided to shorten our categories and add emphasis to daily experiences and that are more accessible to everyone.

You may be asking yourself, "Well, how do I voice my opinion?" It's pretty simple, you just have to join our Facebook group SanDiegoRed Opinión and participate in our surveys.

The five categories with its candidates are the following, but nonetheless, don't hesitate in sending us other candidates, either on this article's comments section or on the group.

Best Coffee Shop

We all appreciate a delicious coffee, either a morning brew to get the day started or in the evening while chatting with friends. There's been a lot of new coffee shops this year, hence there was a lot of options for us to choose from. What entails a good coffee? The place's atmosphere, service and quality of the product.

Here's our list of our candidates for this year's Best Coffee Shop:

Best Food Truck

The food truck experience is something that's becoming a staple of our city, so in this category we've included both new food trucks as well as others that are already well-established but have made changes in their menus since last year.

So for this year we considered:

Best Tasting Room

Something you can't deny is Tijuana's undeniable love for craft beer and places dedicated to enjoy it. This year, we saw great growth in specialized locations that sell beer of their own creation, specifically at Plaza del Zapato now known as Plaza Fiesta. Choosing our candidates for this category was hard since each place offers something different. Of course, there's nothing better than hanging out with friends while sipping from a pint of beer.

Best Casual Dining Restaurant

In this case, we wanted to focus on a restaurant where there's a calm atmosphere and with affordable prices. Still, we consider restaurants that go the extra mile or stride on perfecting their formula.

For this category we considered:

Best Fine Dining Restaurant

In this list, we considered all of the opposite traits from the last category. For this one we were looking for a restaurant with exclusivity written all over it. You know, the type of place where you take someone to really impress them.
