Mexicans Won't Need a Visa to Visit Canada Anymore

The Canadian government has made it official

The visa requirement for Mexicans will cease to exist, this according to Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Dion, declaring the end of a requirement imposed back in 2009.

The decision was announced this Friday after the Ottawa Forum 2016: Building a Foreign Policy for Canada’s Future. The problem is, they still haven’t announced when exactly this new agreement will be made effective.

The Canadian government started requiring Mexican visitors to apply for a visa back when Stephen Harper was Canada’s Prime Minister, as a response to an abuse on their lax refugee programs, getting at least 9,400 annual Mexican applicants.

The new Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, who promised on his electoral campaign to eliminate the requirement for Mexicans. It seems Trudeau is a man of his word.
