Second Winter Storm of the Year to Hit the East Coast and Midwest

Snow could reach up to 18 inches in some areas

While on the West Coast we're dealing with bipolar weather, the East Coast and Midwest region is getting ready for the second snow storm of the year.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm system could bring up to 18 inches of snow.

"Heavy snow expected for portions of the Northeast with blizzard conditions possible for some areas, snow and strong winds expected today across portions of the Upper Midwest, Heavy snow possible across portions of the southern and central Appalachians and the Mid-Atlantic", according to the NWS.

Government agencies in nine Massachusetts counties are currently closed due to the storm, and Rhode Island and Connecticut is under alert.

The snow forecast for the states of New York, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania predicts the least snowfall, with just 3 inches of snow.
