High Hotel Occupancy Rate in Rosarito This Weekend

Thanks to Valentine's Day and President's Day

TIJUANA – Thanks to the strategies undertaken by Baja California's administration headed by governor Francisco "Kiko" Vega de Lamadrid, focused on strengthening Baja's promotion as one of the main tourist destinations in the country, the state's Secretary of Tourism (SECTURE), is expecting a high hotel occupancy rate in Rosarito for this Valentine's Day/President's Day weekend, mainly for Saturday night.

In this way, the head of Baja's Secretary of Tourism, Óscar Escobedo Carignan, explained the intense Baja destination promotion on a local, national and international level, as well as the celebration of President's Day in the US as well as Valentine's Day, will result in a considerable tourist influx and hotel occupancy, for which Escobedo Carignan recommended that for those who are planning on visiting some Baja tourist destination this weekend, to make reservations as soon as possible.

"Traditionally, this has been a very important weekend for the tourism sector, since we receive a great deal of visitors from California, mainly Hispanics, and this time it combined with Valentine's Day, so the tourist providers are expecting even better results", he remarked.

Escobedo Carignan highlighted that Rosarito Beach has had an important increase in hotel occupancy since 2014 and that it's the result of promotion driven by the state's administration in coordination with Rosarito's local government and the private sector.

He also commented that the hotel's occupancy has maintained, even during the week, thanks to events held at the "Baja California Center" convention center and organized tourist groups, as well as the filming of TV series "Fear the Walking Dead", which started on December and will end on May, a production that will generate hotel occupancy by at least 25 thousand rooms a night for that period.

The state official detailed that just in January of this year, Rosarito had 12 thousand 153 guests, in contrast to 7 thousand 380 for the same period last year, which translated to a 30% increase.

Finally, he invited local as well as foreign tourists to take advantage of U.S. four-day weekend and Valentine's, to come visit Rosarito's tourist destinations.
