Mexican authorities called sexually assaulted journalist "ungrateful"

"It was totally unjust being helped out by half a dozen officers while crying rape victims were waiting"

MEXICO CITY – Freelance journalist and Vice collaborator, Andrea Noel, shared this past Tuesday on International Women's Day, a video where she was clearly sexually assaulted on the street by a (still unidentified) man in the Condesa neighborhood, on Avenida Mexico between Celaya street and Sonora Mexico street, where the man approached Andrea from behind rapidly, lifted up her dress and pulled down her underwear.

Soon after the incident, Noel shared two videos on all her social media accounts in order to ID the man. This past Thursday she went to the authorities to try and press charges even though she wasn't feeling very optimistic about the outcome.

She claimed Mexican authorities called her "ungrateful" for denying special treatment while crying rape victims were waiting.

However, even though she had received help and words of encouragement by some Twitter users after posting the video, there's been a huge wave of death threats vía Twitter DMs and other misogynist and sexist replies, mostly by users with "fake" accounts and random pictures.

Multiple users have even speculated that the incident was part of a "prank" by Master Troll or El Rey Grupero, who usually do these types of pranks in Mexico City. This social pressure prompted an answer from Andoni Echanove part of Master Troll, claiming that they don't do pranks to "girls", only people who can defend themselves, clearly exposing the type of mentality that a lot of people still have, referring to grown women as "girls" or assuming that because they're females they can't defend themselves, not to mention that doing these types of pranks is ok…

Master Troll speaks:

Noel has been interviewed by multiple media outlets since the incident:

Mexico City's authorities refuse to investigate her case until she receives psychological evaluation:
