New Cross Border Xpress Has Averaged 2,000 Daily Users Since Opening

This bridge could benefit the region’s commerce

SAN DIEGO –The head of Otay - Tijuana Venture, Enrique Valle, the company that manages the binational bridge, has stated that since the CBX’s opening, 300,000 users have walked through it.

The CBX received closed to 5,000 people in just one day during the Spring Break season, while on regular days they process 2,200 people per day on average.

Valle noted that while there is an average 4-hour-long wait on border ports of entry, there is only a short 10-minute wait for the Tijuana International Airport passengers who use the bridge without a I-94 permit.

There’s a chance that this bridge will reap benefits to the region’s commerce, since, due to the long border ports of entry wait time, there’s been a 1.6 million-dollar-loss per year.
