American Journalist's Sexual Perpetrator Is Now Victimizing Himself

He claims his reputation is being damaged by allegations

MEXICO CITY – Mexican television host Andoni Echave, who works on a prank TV show called Master Troll, was subpoenaed by Mexico's Attorney General to give his statement on the alleged sexual assault he committed against freelance American journalist, Andrea Noel.

"I can't take the fall for something I didn't do", stated Echave.

During an interview with Ciro Gómez, he said he showed up at Mexico's Attorney General's office yesterday, in order to prove to Noel that he isn't the one who committed the sexual assault against her. He claims his physical features do not coincide with the sketched portrait and descriptions made regarding the perpetrator. The descriptions he was referring state he was a "dark skinned male, with the looks of a man who goes to the gym".

His defense?

"I'm not dark skinned or strong like she says", adding that he also has a tattoo that is not visible in the video.

Andoni claims his mother paid $14,275 pesos (around $818 dollars) for Andrea's plane ticket to come from New York to Mexico City so that she could meet him in person during his statement, where he took the opportunity to tell Noel "I'm really sorry for what happened to you but I want you to know that I'm not going to plead guilty to something I didn't commit".

Noel's lawyer sued Andoni and is seeking a compensation of $306,000 pesos ($17,530 dollars) for the harm done to her client, as well as a public apology.

Andoni's alibi for the day of the incident, March 8th, is that he was "on the other side of town", interviewing a pop rock band that would be featured on a Telehit TV show, however journalist Ciro stated that the Mexico City neighborhoods, Nápoles and Condesa (where the incident happen), are actually contiguous.

Regarding the statements made by "Rey Grupero", where he accused Andrea of taking advantage of the situation to become a "renowned journalist". Noel stated "I don't agree with him; I don't believe this is taking advantage of their fame". Andoni is scheduled to appear in a hearing in the coming weeks, he claims he's the one who asked for the trial hearing.
