Tijuana Public Transit Workers Back at It Again with Their Protests

After not reaching common ground with Tijuana Mayor

TIJUANA - This past Wednesday, the Tijuana Mayor and the city's public transit leaders met with the goal of reaching an agreement regarding the new public transit guidelines that will come with the city's new BRT public transit system also known as SITT.

It appears an agreement was not reached since public transit leaders have announced another "massive protest".

"We are talking about marching, caravans, blockades, it's a shame that the citizens need to understand that even though this may seem detrimental, it's actually for the greater good of the BRT system project, because this project will affect everyone in a negative way", stated public transit representative, Gabriel Lemus, to Frontera.

Lemus clarified that last week's protest was just 20% of public transit workers who are against the city's new public transit guidelines. The new protest will consist of blocking access to City Hall, construction work progress of the new BRT system as well as border port of entry blockades.

So it seems as they are actually going through with their threats of doing "worse things" in case Tijuana's government didn't give in to their demands, to which the City Council has stated it will not do, which only leaves its citizens afraid of having a paralyzed city due to the lack of real commitment towards city mobility progress, especially by the city's public transit workers.
