The still important and existing gaps in this field were discussed by the Smart Border Coalition during their monthly meeting which took place at the World Trade Center in Tijuana, and counted on the presence of leaders from both sides of the border.

Vivian Salazar, from the Office of Binational Affairs of the Ministry of Economic Development of Tijuana (SEDETI), explained that some signs in Tijuana’s Zona Rio will be relocated to facilitate the movement of tourists in the city. She also added that they are looking to hire a construction service to accelerate this process, given that the confusion caused by inadequate signage slows down the border crossing, and as a result, the economic development of the Tijuana-San Diego region. With regard to this topic, it was mentioned that a meeting between SEDETI and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) took place. A tour was given to identify where signage changes would be undertaken. In essence, the objective of this activity is that the tourists that visit Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada, and Tecate can easily and safely return to the border.
