Sixth Annual Bike Fest On Its Way to Tijuana

One of the big prizes this year is a Harley Davidson motorbike.

TIJUANA. A big parade of bikers, going from the Monumental Clock in Tijuana's Revolution Avenue to the Hidalgo Produce Market, will be the opening act of the sixth Bike Fest, an international motorbike enthusiast reunion happening on June 17 through 19.

Tattoo and bikini contests, food and live music are part of the activities planned for the festival, which has an entry fee of 50 Mexican pesos (about $2.73 USD) for general audiences.

Tijuana hopes that all 3,000 visiting bikers will be "ambassadors of goodwill that will speak highly of our city", according to Tijuana's Conventions and Tourism Committee (Cotuco) operational coordinator Juan Coronado. He mentioned that an economic income of a half million pesos is expected from this fest.

Organizers Gil Ávila and Erik Morales from the Sólo Ángeles biker's club are still yet to determine what percentage of those profits will be destined towards the Center for the Integral Learning of Laborers, Cialac, but there is a plan to invest some of the money into a water treatment plan so this civil association can cover their expenses.

The Sólo Ángeles leader's motorbike, valued at over $10,000 USD, will be raffled.
