UCSD Inaugurates the CaliBaja Center for Resilient Materials & Systems

The center aims to promote binational student exchange and scientific collaboration.

TIJUANA. With the purpose of supporting and promoting technological R&D activities in the binational region, emphasizing the fields aerospace, manufacture, and biomedical gadgets, Tijuana’s Mayor Jorrge Astiazarán attended the CaliBaja Center for Resilient Materials & Systems inauguration event at UCSD.

During the event, which took place inside the Atkinson Hall auditorium, Astiazarán pointed how the Center will be a great boost towards binational student exchange and scientific cooperation, advancing the growth of technology-related jobs in both sides of the border.

Among the notorious guests is the North American sub-director of Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE); Mexico’s consul general in San Diego; the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Dept. at UCSD’s Jacobs School of Engineering coordinator; and the U.S. consul general in Tijuana.
