San Quintin's First Beer Fest is Coming in July

The region is trying to boost the craft beer market and industry in the region

TIJUANA. With the purpose of turning the San Quintín valley into a beer producing region, the first edition of the Beer Fest and Oyster Harvest will be held in July 9 at the Posada Don Diego Restaurante Bar.

Eduardo Ramírez, brewer for La Casa del Lúpulo, and the local Secretariat of Tourism (Sectur) are responsible for organizing it.

Craft beer producers in Tjuana, Rosarito, Ensenada and Mexicali, as well as winemakers from south Ensenada, will congregate along various regional chefs, offering oyster based dishes and other culinary options.

Promoting the consumption and knowledge about craft beer making, La Casa del Lúpulo brewery will offer a workshop on the brewing process at the Fest's site on June 25, where participants will be able to create an "Oyster Stout", which can be paired with an oyster tasting by paying a 75 pesos fee ($4.00 USD)

This beer making company has been offering its services for over 3 years through different distributors and has had their own establishment for a year now. Starting six months ago, the company's offering free workshops where attendees have learnt how to brew IPAs, Pale Ales, Saison, and others.

This way, beer brewing could join the rest of tourist activities in the San Quintín Region, such as fishing, hunting, cycling, tourist events and place the Valley as "a gastronomic and cultural destinations", according to the area's Sectur sub-delegate, Ramón Villavicencia.

Hoping to gather over 25 brewers and at least a thousand visitors, entry tickets for the Beer Fest and Oyster Harvest will be available at La Casa del Lúpulo in Ensenada, Posada Don Diego and Bajabrains Publicidad in the Guadalupe Valley, as well as in the Hotel María Celeste and Sushi N Tojo Restaurant in San Quintín. The price for each ticket is 150 pesos ($8.15 USD) for adults and 100 pesos ($5.34 USD) for kids; tickets will be exchangeable for beer tastings, or food and drinks for children.
