Tijuana's Craft Beer Expo Has Huge Second Night

Some of the beer stand ran out early because of the sudden increase in demand.

Friday’s opening night saw over 6,000 people attending the Craft Beer Expo in Tijuana, which meant good business for everyone, but it was dwarfed by Sunday night’s audience of 8,000+, who enjoyed Kinky in concert and lots of regional and national brews.

On the second night, Saturday, hundreds waited in line to pay the 280 pesos ($15.15 USD) entry fee to get one of the little taster cups that you could take to any of the regional and national beer stands and have it filled for free.

Rubén Valenzuela, president of the Craft Beer Expo, explained that Insurgente, Fauna, Wendlandt, Norte Brweing and BCB were in the highest demand that that, minutes before Insurgente brewery had to erase three different styles from their menu.

The food department also saw much more demand than on opening night, confirmed Humo’s chef Giovanni Brassea.

Some people insisted that this sudden spike in attendance on the Expo’s final night was due to Monterrey alt rock band Kinky’s draw; it is merely a theory, but the audience’s energy was only reaffirming of it, making the band finish their set until well past midnight.
