Even if you don't know the specific health risks that go hand in hand with tobacco, we can all agree on the general precept that smoking is bad for you. Not only are you twenty times as susceptible to lung cancer, but those around you are also in danger because of secondhand smoke. Why not stop?
Today is the World No Tobacco Day, and if you've decided to quit (or you're thinking about it), these tips will help you through.
1.- Consider the following benefits
-
Prevents diseases.
Increase your health.
Save money.
Improve your looks.
Become a better example for your children.
People around you will not be exposed to smoke-related illnesses.
Improve your physical performance
Better taste and smelling.
Improve your oral health.
2.- Go cold turkey, not little by little.
Acccording to Spain's Ministry of Sanitation, Social Services and Equality, trying to quit by slowing down and reducing the amount to cigarettes you smoke progressively will not make it any easier. You must set a date, the sooner the better.
3.- Replace cigarettes with candy or gum.
Drop cigarettes, chew gum or eat candy in their place to deal with the anxiety of not having something in your mouth. Various health-related websites state that you have to find a "substitute craving" to replace tobacco with, and this will help you the first few days.
4.- Tell everyone; friends, family, acquaintances
This should make it easier for you, because they can help you avoid relapses and will also refrain from exposing you to cigarettes or smoke while outside.
