Group Protests Against Violence in Oaxaca at San Ysidro Border

Despite the purpose of this protest, almost no teachers showed up to it.

SAN YSIDRO. A group people in the U.S.

gathered in support of Oaxaca on Tuesday around 8:00 p.m., in support of Oaxaca after a wave of violence affected the Mexican state this past weekend.

During the encounter, a woman used a megaphone to voice her frustration with, as she put it, the American government's involvement in the events that transpired in Oaxaca: "This f****ng American system is to blame for the massacres over there."

Ruzht Ruiz, a Tijuana native that attended this protest, said that only a few teachers from the Tijuana – San Diego area were present, despite an open invitation made to their unions; the rest were regular citizens.

According to the Raíces sin Fronteras website, were the protest was planned, another gathering is scheduled at the Mexican embassy in San Diego this next Friday.
