TIJUANA. Several Mexican families were finally reunited, even if just for a few hours, after gathering at both sides of the border fence between Mexico and the U.S., some of them for the first time in years.
Mexican newspaper El Sol de Tijuana interviewed the Hernandez family, who had not been together for over 30 years. Some members traveled from places as far as Chicago and San Fernando in the U.S., and from Jalisco in Mexico; they had a long, three-hour talk jobs, health, relationships and even soccer.
Around 25 members from the Hernandez Medina family were present at the gathering, 8 of them on the U.S. side and the rest in Tijuana.
They were not alone, however; Mexican news outlet Agencia Fronteriza de Noticias brought them a Norteño music group that played for around 40 minutes. This gathering was made possible through the efforts of Lorena Hernandez and the Angeles Fronterizos foundation, who were contacted by Lorena to help her reunite with her sisters, whom she had not seen in person for 16 years after they moved to the U.S.
