Rosarito Is the Most Visited City by Baja California Residents

Ensenada used to be on top of the list

Playas de Rosarito is no longer only known for the parties at Papa's and Beer; the city has grown and became one of the most visited cities of Baja California thanks to their extensive cultural and artistic scene. Concerts and festivals have also increased in numbers and the beaches are the perfect spot to have a nice talk, go for a swim, or simply walk while looking to the horizon.

According to Gustavo Torres, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTURE) in Rosarito, this July the city had an 45% increase in tourist flow in comparison with 2015. The end of holiday season is not expected to be negative at all thanks to all the events planned for September. This may be the best month in city's history.

"There hasn't been any high impact delinquencies in the zone, most of them happen in the East of the city, but none among residents of the Tourist area", said Gustavo about the safety in Rosarito. He also highlighted that nightlife has improved in recent years and that more nightclubs will open soon.

Such tourist flow has shown the necessity of hotel development due to lack of space. The opening of a new 100 room hotel was announced and it will be open by August of the current year. The construction of other resorts are also part of the program and the national investment is approximately of 700 million pesos.

Torres is aware of the problem of getting places or spaces to park, so he's pulling some strings to build parking buildings. "Many people have to leave their cars in secluded places", he said.

"Since last year, Rosarito is the most visited city by Baja California residents. Ensenada had that title before", said the delegate of SECTURE, who was invited to visit the town again to rediscover a place that nowadays can be unrecognizable to many people who knew it years ago.
