Beer of the Week: Stone Brewing's MOCHA IPA

A seasonal beer from San Diego

This beer was one of the best decisions I made during the week, just the perfect option for that "IPA VS. STOUT dilemma" a lot of us experience while choosing our first beer of the night; however, Mocha IPA has the best of both worlds and it challenges any expectation.

I found this beer at Funes, a new product here but already "moving" in some other places, specifically where they offer you a collection of Californian beers such as Stone Brewing's, a brewery that's been on the market for 20 years.

Mocha IPA is not made for those who only want to freshen up a bit, if you drink this there's no in between. Sweet flavors are part of the sensation this 9 proof alcohol beer has for you.

If you pour it in a cup, the color may seem to clear for a Stout, but very dark for an IPA. When you take the first sip you will instantly detect a soft coffee smell with chocolate and a touch of citrics. The flavor as a whole is beyond any level because it has that bitterness of an IPA, but the coffee and chocolate game wins the battle, leaving you with a really creamy vanilla sensation at the end.

This is a seasonal beer and has been on the market since June, so if you want to taste it you better do it before September.
