Mexican Beer and Tequila are Growing in Popularity in the U.S.

Tecate y Corona are the most consumed brands

The United States is in a bit of a stressful situation due to their presidential elections, with anti-Mexican and immigrant sentiment on the rise. Ironically, at the same time, The Beer Institute revealed in a recent study that citizens of the U.S. are drinking more beer and more tequila made in Mexico.

The market has had an importation increase of 18% during this year. Tecate, Dos Equis, Corona and Modelo are the most consumed brands and are distributed by Constellation Brands in the U.S.

On the other hand, tequila consumption has increased by 30% in the last five years in the United States; however, according to data from Euromonitor, trends show that soon, mezcal might be among the favorites with a possible increase of 17% by 2020.

Despite that a (hopefully, small) part of the United States population supports Trumps ideas of building a wall, deport millions, and change the North American Free Trade Agreement, Stephen Rannekleiv, global drinks strategist of Rabobank International, says that,"at the same time, you can now see a growing interest in brands of Mexican descent, in all categories, not only in tequila."
