The 8th Edition of Tijuana’s Festival on the Beach is Here

The focus is a better ecological environment

The 8th Edition of Tijuana's Festival on the beach is focused on ecological and environmental subjects (26th, 27th, and 28th of August). This family event will have music, food, cars & surf exhibitors, and lots of culture at one of the most emblematic places of the city, the beached side of the border.

In a press conference, President of the Organizing Committee of the Festival, Engineer René Romandía, said that currently there’s a lot of trash left on the beach, and it's important that people avoid this bad habit; part of the objective of this edition is to create a cleaning awareness with waste management and recycling of materials.

"The Tijuana festival on the beach this year is looking to reduce solid waste generated by the festival, by integrating Mariscos Titos with 6 garbage separation islands and 4 garbage separators, with the intention of reusing materials; they also want to generally clean the beach on Saturday and Sunday and remove most of the solid waste that goes into the sea and impacts the marine life, " said Romandía.

He announced that they expect the attendance of more than 10,000 people every day, managing to gather approximately 30 thousand people throughout all the event from Southern California, Hawaii and Baja California, attendance that will be reflected in a significant economic benefit for all sectors involved.

Some of the activities will include norteño music and Cumbia, as well as a dog training walk at 1:00 pm on Saturday. Lucha libre, car and motorcycle exhibitions are also part of the gig.

To conclude, René Romandía explained that the festival will start on Friday from 5:00 pm till 1:00 am. There will be workshops on Saturday since 9:00 am and the exhibitors will be from 12:00 pm till 1:00 am. The entrance on Sunday will be free and all the activities will take place from 12:00 pm till 12: am.
