"AMBOS" Injects Art in San Ysidro's Port of Entry this Sunday

Don't miss this event and live the art

TIJUANA.- During August, San Ysidro's Port of Entry witnessed a culture exchange through tales, art, short films and more thanks to binational artists that have tried to reduce the stress of long lines at the border.

This Art Made By Opposite Sides (AMBOS), was inaugurated on August 5th at this famous border point, where as days went by, different projects coordinated by citizens of Tijuana, San Diego and Los Angeles could be seen as you walked by.

Founder artist of AMBOS, Tanya Aguiniga, will exhibit her work called "Quipu Fronterizo" on Sunday, which consists in a series of joined knots made by travelers from Mexico and the U.S. You would be able to see this colorful idea at the AMBOS stand.

From 3:00 pm to 6 pm, Ingrid Hernandez will present "Nada que declarar" (Nothing to Declare), a series of serigraphy impressions reflecting the border experience, while Cog•nate collective will talk about his projects called "Escalas fronterizas" (Border Scales) and "Diálogos en transito" (Dialogues in Transit).

This art expo has given people a break from the routine and it will be closed with mariachi and DJ's from Colombia and Tijuana. The transition and the binational identity at the border is definitely the main subject of this idea.

Through these cultural interventions, artists explored the complexities of border life and border crossing, so a film series, lectures, workshops, a pirate radio program and interactive art installations were part of the gig. Don't miss the date on Sunday and get in contact with your "artsy self."
