The Mexican Independence Day celebration is almost here, no matter where you from, the "Fiestas Patrias" are always something very interesting to experience; and as every year, Tijuana has a lot of options for you to commemorate this event in history.

The Town Hall of Tijuana invites citizens and everyone who would like to have a good time to pass by the "Gran Verbena Popular" (festival) on September 14th to celebrate the 206 years since the Independence of Mexico at the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture (IMAC).

Jesus Flores, head of the Institute, said that the event goal was to boost patriotism and citizenship among "Tijuanenses" (Tijuana residents), and revive historical moments that helped build the course of the country.

"The Independence of Mexico has to be more than a label or a simple fact, is supposed to be a feeling that comes from within us, only to transform it into a genuine sense of duty and loyalty to our country. That's why IMAC will organize this event, so citizens can be proud of their roots and celebrate this special day," said Flores.

During the event, music will definitely be one of the main attractions. The musical called"Mexico de mis Recuerdos" (Mexico of my Memories) will be performed by the Judy Garland Company, added to that, you'll also be able to enjoy Jazz, Folk Dance, Workshops, artisan products, Traditional Mexican food, and more. The event starts at 10:00 am and ends at 8:00 pm.

So, now you know, don't miss the chance of having a great time surrounded by colors, amazing food and pretty music. Remember that learning about other cultures creates perspective and that by learning, observing, and experiencing, you'll find interest in many things.

The date is September 14th from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Bring your family or friends and say "Viva Mexico!"
