Get Ready for the 4th Showing of Border Films in Tijuana This week

Violence, delinquency, migration and others, are some of the addressed subjects in these movies.

TIJUANA.- The 10th Edition of Tijuana Interzona Festival is coming to the city, and with it the 4th showing of Border Films, where an exhibition and a movie premiere will be waiting for you.

From Sept. 27 to Oct. 2 seven films will be presented at the Cineteca of the Cultural Center of Tijuana (CECUT), also known as Sala Carlos Monsivais. Documentaries, short films, and Mexican & German films will be part of the board.

Here are some of the options:

1.- Viacrucis Migrante

This is a documentary about men, women and children who are running away from the awful circumstances in their countries (Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador).

A travel of more than 1000 miles is filmed, and it shows the dangers these people need to confront. Go and find out how this journey ends.

Gringo is a story that takes place back in 2010, when the fight between the government and the organized crime was at its highest level in the Northwest region of Mexico.

Genre: Drama/ Road movie, Mexico

Time: 8:30 pm

3.- El Paso

Journalists are stuck in the migration circle after being victims of Narco Violence, after that they ran away from Mexico with their families to look for political asylum in the U.S.

When? Thursday Sept 29

Genre: Documentary, Mexico

Time: 8:30 pm

4.- Jhoyero

Juan is the main character of this film and has been working for years as a butler for a rich family in Monterrey because his father worked for them until he died, leaving Juan with a job heritage; but this will be over soon for there comes a day when he decides that things are going to be different for him. See what happens in this adventure.

5.- Mañana Psicotrópica

A group of youngsters living in Queretaro start selling drugs, such as LSD and hallucinogenic mushrooms to gather money for a road trip to the beach. After that they just live a lot of adventures and you can see them growing as individuals and discovering the true meaning of friendship, loyalty and happiness.

When? Saturday Oct. 1

Genre: Drama, Mexico

6.- Through The Wall

A 19 years-old called Litio tries to commit suicide, but after that he decides to visit his cousin Koko in Queretaro. Once he's there he starts working with a group of friends and sells drugs to afford a one weekend trip to Michoacan.

7.- Samira

A woman from the Ivory Coast is separated from her six month baby after being betrayed by her interpreter, then she's taken to the authorities of Hamburgo seaport. The film shows us the world of illegal migration from Africa to Europe.
