Rosarito to Host the 2016 Mexican Popular Art Market

It starts today and ends tomorrow

ROSARITO, B.C.- The "Mexican Popular Art Market" will be held on Nov. 12 and Nov. 13 November in this city covered by resounding waves and amazing sunsets.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTURE), Oscar Escobedo, said that in recent years the work has focused on cultural festivities within the town, to make it an attractive place for the artistic sector as well, because it is only known as a place that can be visited on Holiday dates like Easter and Summer.

The "Mexican Popular Art Market" will start today at the Arts State Center (Ceart) Rosarito, and will also offer exhibitions of folkloric ballet, painting, and of local products such as mezcal, and wine, as well as traditional Mexican dishes.

The State Official said that as a result of these efforts, it has been possible to consolidate the programming of at least two cultural events per year, such as the 'Rosarito Art Fest', held in May; and the aforementioned 'Popular Art Market'.

SECTURE delegate in Rosarito, Gustavo Torres, explained that one of the aims of the event is to attract owners of gift shops, museum managers, collectors and art enthusiasts from the State of California and Tijuana, to bring them together with the work of producing artisans of the South of Mexico to show their works in this space.

"The event will be attended by great exhibitors such as Olivia Domínguez, from Chihuahua; Enedina Vásquez, from Oaxaca, winner of the 2014 National Ceramic Award; Ricardo Linares, from Mexico City; Fernando Jimón, of Jalisco, and Amalia Martínez of the State of Mexico; among other national talents," said the delegate.
