UNESCO Declares Belgian Beer As a World Heritage

The objective of this is to preserve artisanal beer production in the country

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), declared Belgian beer tradition as an intangible heritage of mankind.

With this it is intended to preserve the artisan production of beer in the country, which involves producers, promoters and consumers.

UNESCO experts used as a criterion of distinction the diversity and great variety in the art of brewing in the European country, as well as its forms of consumption.

There are about 200 breweries in Belgium and there is at least one club, factory or workshop related to beer in almost every province in the country.
