Los Angeles Welcomes 60,000 New Legal Mexican Residents

Mayor of Los Angeles, California, Eric Garcetti reported.

The Mayor of Los Angeles, California, Eric Garcetti is touting that thanks to a project called Ventanilla , 60,000 Mexicans living in the U.S. city will soon be living legally there.

Accompanied by Foreign Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massieu, the mayor commented during a press conference, "We know that the city of Los Angeles will be a city that will give a comprehensive welcome to Mexicans."

Ruiz said that in 2017 the Year of Mexico in Los Angeles will be held, as a sign of the good relationship between the two countries. During this event, academic, cultural, tourist and business activities will be carried out.

Both officials met to discuss environment, education and infrastructure projects that would strengthen the relationship between the two entities.
