The Border Has a New Aspect Thanks to "The Brotherhood Mural"

The mural that divides Tijuana and San Diego has new colors

If there's one thing that always unites everyone no matter where they from, is art. Art knows no boundaries, no prejudice, and that's why many artists decide to paint, build, insert, or write in places that sometimes represent some limitation to send a message to the world.

This is what happens in the border that divides Tijuana and San Diego. Yesterday (Dec. 4), several artists and volunteers gathered at Playas de Tijuana to start the creation of the"Mural de la hermandad" (The Brotherhood Mural).

The objective of this work of art is to put joy and brightness in this division. Enrique Chiu made a call through Social Networks asking people to join this project, and surprisingly, more than one hundred people attended to improve the aspect of approximately 2,000 meters.

Is at the Parque de la Amistad in Otay where this wall begins, acting as a place for family reunions every weekend (from both sides of the border), and as yesterday passed by, shapes and colors started to create an image of life in the rustic sheets of metal.

The project will finish in around 4 weeks, this to give artists from both sides of the border a chance of inspire themselves.

"We know people are going to see it and take it into account, they will really know what we're talking about," Chiu said.

Artists from Guatemala, Venezuela, and Mexico, also joined the US team of painters and will travel to the border only to collaborate in this project.
