Best of Baja 2016: Best Restaurant Goes to "La Casa de la Langosta"

The "Puerto Nuevo" pioneer

Puerto Nuevo was created thanks to a traditional dish, which only includes lobster, beans, and tortillas, a simple combination that drove many people crazy thanks to its naturality and flavor.

"La Casa de la Langosta" was one of the pioneers of this way of serving Seafood, and with time, many restaurants started to make fame in the same area, located in the Ensenada-Tijuana road.

This place won Best Restaurant in the 2016 Edition of Best of Baja thanks to the participation of the community through votes in the San Diego Red Opinion Facebook group. Keep reading and explore what can be your next favorite place to eat, in which even though you have to make a long line, you'll definitely won't be disappointed.

"La Casa de la Langosta" opened its door back in 1985, but tradition and flavor keeps shining through the years. The place may not have a direct view to the beach, but it's pretty walls will feed your curiosity, because it has many old pictures of how "Puerto Nuevo" came to be what it is now.

The story of "Puerto Nuevo" began when back in the day, fisherman brought lobsters to their home to be later cooked by their family, and they did with whatever ingredients they had at hand, which in this case was beans, rice, and handmade flour tortillas, soft and delicious. A dish that now is a MUST for locals and tourists.

But this place's menu is not all about the lobster, because although this is the specialty, other options such as the marlin burrito, oysters and "Earth & Sea" dishes are available for foodies.

Congratulations, "La Casa de la Langosta"!
