More Than 120 Complaints Filed Against Tijuana Police

Illegal arrests and bribery are the main complaints received by the Receivership Court

Citizens of Tijuana have filed more than 127 complaints to police since December 2016, highlighting cases of bribery and illegal detentions.

Ana Marcela Guzmán, prosecuting attorney, affirms that bribes are a constant obstacle and that this amount of money is not registered by the Security Secretary.

Regarding illegal detentions Marcela Guzmán explains there are people who are detained without committing any crime. The official says it is common for people to be arrested after doing something illegal, but without any chargers officially

Since last year at least 440 complaints against security elements have been sent to the Police Development Commission to determine the legal status of each case.
