After more than eleven years of seeing Americans avoiding Baja California for their spring or summer vacations, in 2017 spring breakers return to the tourist destinations of the region.
"We anticipate there will be no less than 11,000 university students who come in an organized way back to the tourist destinations of Baja California," Ives Lelevier Ramos, the undersecretary of State Tourism, told the local newspaper Frontera.

The State Tourism Ministry expects that between March and April, Americans will be able to fill hotel occupancy to the limit. So he highlighted the progress they have made in the hotel sector, opening 20 new lodging buildings in recent years.
"We believe that being the favorite destination for Americans will strengthen with the actions we are undertaking," said the States Tourism secretary, Óscar Escobedo Carignan.
