Ensenada Beaches Might Still Be Closed Due to Pollution by Easter Weekend

Currently two of the eight beaches in the municipality of Ensenada

Baja authorities are warning, and admitting, that some beaches in Ensenada might be closed off during the upcoming Easter Sunday weekend due to pollutants still present near the coast.

So far two of these beaches in Ensenada remain closed, from the eight that exist in the area. They are likely to remain so until Easter weekend, usually the height of local tourist activity in the state.

The beaches of Playa Hermosa and Pacifica have lower pollution levels in their waters, but are still too high, said the undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Ives Lelevier Ramos.

The staff, from Isesalud said that if there were no rainfall for those days, the beaches could be open, but according to weather reports precipitation is expected for the first week of April, and it is precisely the rain runoff that empties into the beach that could bring different pollutants to it.

The website of the Baja California tourism ministry will be able to accurately inform the conditions at the beaches, as well as other recurring attractions for visitors during next week, so tourist and potential visitors to Ensenada can rely on it for the latest beach conditions

Ives Lelevier, said that there are other beaches to visit in the region if they continue to be closed, such as the Mission, but similarly cited that the attractions offered by the municipality of Ensenada are greater than the option to visit the beaches.
