New Neonatal Intensive Care Room Opens At Tijuana General Hospital

Thanks to the "Miracle Babies Mexico" organization and an investment of more than 300,000 dlls

TIJUANA.-Miracle Babies Mexico, concludes its first project in the Tijuana General Hospital with this week's opening of the Surgery Room of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which will benefit an average of 120 newborns suffering from some type of congenital problem.

Since 2016, Miracle Babies Mexico has adopted part of the "Niño Enfermo" project, which is promoted by the Tijuana General Hospital Board. This program was dedicated to obtaining the funds to make the Neonatal Procedures Room a reality. It is thanks to the help of Mr. Frank Carillo, a prestigious and well-known entrepreneur from Baja California, that the investment of 4 million pesos ($300,000 dlls approx.) for the construction and equipment of this surgical room is achieved, all through the SIMNSA Foundation.

The cost of goods and personnel for its operation come from the contribution made by the Miracle Babies Mexico Foundation itself, which through different fundraiser events ensured the indispensable resources to be available whenever it is needed.

As Mónica González de Granado, a member of the Board of Directors of the Miracle Babies Mexico Foundation, said: "Many of us know at firsthand how our hearts break when they tell us that our child has very little chance of surviving, but we also know what a timely procedure means. Having it, means a chance at life."

That is why in Miracle babies Mexico we will continue fighting every day to give the children of the General Hospital the opportunity they deserve so much."

Following these words, Ms. Zarema Vega de Contreras, President of the Miracle Babies Mexico Foundation, presented a special recognition to Mr. Frank Carillo, whose generosity and commitment to the neediest children in Tijuana is very appreciated.

Mr. Carrillo said: "This is not an aid issue, it is a matter of social responsibility," and urged other entrepreneurs to continue to commit to these types of projects that raise the quality of life of the vulnerable population of the city.

Through an emotional delivery of badges to the Founder, to volunteers of Miracle Babies Mexico and to Mr. Carrillo, the commitment of each and every one of them was endorsed with the family of the Patronato Pro Hospital General of Tijuana.

Prior to the cutting ceremony, Ms. María Dolores Rivera de Gastélum, President of the Municipal DIF Board, did the honors to unveil the plaque in recognition of this work, which reflects the effort of the participating groups as follows:

"Miracle Babies Mexico, Fundación SIMNSA and Board of Trujillo Pro Hospital General of Tijuana joined forces to build, equip and operate this Neonatal Procedures Room".

With it, we will provide hope to thousands of families struggling with their children by giving them what every child deserves: a chance to live. A result of a joint effort to benefit Tijuana. Together, for a better life. "

The Procedures Room of the NICU of the Tijuana General Hospital will be officially named the "Sala de Procedimientos Neonatales Francisco Carrillo", in honor of Carrillo's great contribution. In this room different surgical procedures will be carried out on infants who are diagnosed with congenital conditions such as gastroschisis, heart disease, hydrocephalus, intestinal atresia, urinary tract malformations, diaphragmatic hernia, retinopathy of prematurity, among others.

The Dr. Sean Daneshmand stated: "It was a beautiful day ⎡ ... ⎤ I learned that when it comes to the health of women and their children, the amount of money in our bank account should not determine their basic health care needs."

He did not forget to thank the people involved for their dedication, love and perseverance to this cause.
