High School Dropout Rate Increases in Tijuana

This happened during the last school year

The desertion of high school students has always been a recurrent problem, but it was during this last school year that the cases doubled, according to data from the State Education System.

Of the 68,774 students who entered the 2015-2016 school year, only 61,588 students completed it, while the previous one was 61,756 high school students that entered and 58,995 students who managed to finish.

Miguel Angel Mendoza, education secretary of Baja California, mentions that "young people who drop out of high school have been struggling since middle school because they do not understand teachers and because it makes them lazy to study".

Regarding the grades and the rate of failure, results indicate that it increased from 29.7% to 30.5% during the school years 2015-2015 and 2015-2016.

In Tecate, 23.9% of students failed and increased to 30.4%, while in Playas de Rosarito the increase was from 27.5% to 33.9%.

On the other hand, Playas de Rosarito and Tijuana had increase efficiency, from 64.5% to 69.5% and from 59.7% to 62.2% respectively.
