Baja California tourism products receive distinction

Positions them in international markets

To promote products offered by the state’s tourist destinations, the OHBC’s (Outstanding Host Baja California) outstanding host program and tourism authorities signed an alliance that aims to raise the standard of these businesses.

The State Tourism Secretary, Oscar Escobedo, said that the agreement in which the Better Business Bureau (BBB) also participates plans to consolidate the service of excellence in establishments affiliated to the program. This is to ensure that the customer or visitor is sure that any of the products that have this distinction provide a five-star quality service which promotes and positions it in the North American market.

In addition to consolidating the brand within the highest-level commercial establishments in the state, owners will have access to training for their staff on the best service practices and superior customer service. In addition, they will have access to the resources to improve their premises. This will increase the business’ competitiveness and the consumer’s level of confidence.

More than 200 businesses on the state’s main tourist pathways are included in this alliance. These businesses have received the first presentations and training on the alliance’s benefits and operation.

He expects that as this distinction becomes stronger among the members, more brands will seek to form part of Baja California’s five-star product line.

It is worth mentioning that in order to obtain the distinctions of both the Outstanding Host and Better Business Bureau, the State Public Health Services Institute (ISESALUD) and the Federal Consumer Attorney’s Office (PROFECO) carry out an inspection in their respective areas to validate that the businesses have up to date hygiene and administration procedures for their correct operation.

Bernardo Altamirano, CEO of BBB Mexico, said that the first training session will take place in May, online, with the president of the BBB Hawaii. In six months, a similar event will be held but with BBB San Francisco. This will be part of the alliance with the tourist authorities in Baja California.

As part of the beginning of the alliance between OHBC and the BBB, the first awards were given to La Corriente Cevicheria Nais, the Culinary Art School, K Tower, Cine Tonala, Madera 5, Oryx Capital of Tijuana, and Amores of Tecate.

The Better Business Bureau is a company that has 100 years of quality experience with more than 113 offices in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
