From Local Food to Traditional Crafts

The festival will open with a parade along the San Felipe malecón featuring music, stilt walkers and costumed characters, followed by the official opening ceremony.

Visitors will be able to explore “Mar y Sazón,” a pavilion dedicated to the region’s food, as well as “Identidad Viva del Alto Golfo,” an artisan showcase featuring representatives from five Indigenous communities.

A photography exhibition titled “Raíces del Agua” will also highlight the region through images.

The program will additionally feature book presentations for Odisea por la Vaquita Marina and Territoria, along with a drawing and poetry competition showcasing young local talent.

Activities Focused on the Sea and Environment

Several activities will focus on the natural resources and ecosystems of the Alto Golfo.

Visitors can participate in the “Por el Orgullo de San Felipe” beach cleanup, watch marine birds and see sand sculptures created as part of the “Sueños de Arena” competition.

The festival will also include informational spaces focused on conservation and environmental initiatives.

One of the educational activities will be “Voces del Mar,” a discussion on sustainable fishing that will bring together knowledge and experiences connected to the region’s coastal communities.

Workshops for Children and Families

The festival will offer hands-on activities designed for children, young people and families.

Among them are “Secretos del Mar en tu Rostro,” an artistic makeup workshop, and puppet workshops introducing children to endemic and representative species of the Alto Golfo de California Biosphere Reserve.

Another activity, “Pinta tu Mar,” will invite participants to create their own paintings on easels.

The organizers say these activities are intended to encourage environmental awareness and help younger generations connect with the region’s natural heritage.

Music and Performances Will Close the Celebration

The entertainment lineup will bring together several styles and generations.

Performers include the versatile group La Mulata, the Ballet Folklórico Tradicional de Baja California and youth mariachi group Orgullo Nacional.

The program will also feature a flash-mob opera performance, Latin rhythms including salsa and a jazz performance by Agua de Coco.

The festival will close with the Orquesta Mar de Cortés and its concert “Canto de la Vaquita Marina.”

According to Baja California Tourism Secretary Miguel Ángel Badiola Montaño, the festival is intended to bring the community together while promoting tourism experiences connected to the region’s identity and encouraging greater awareness of its natural resources.
