The capital of Baja California will take part in the “Expo Turismo Tijuana y la Mega Región”, set to take place on August 2 along Avenida Pacífico in Playas de Tijuana. This participation is part of the local government’s efforts to boost the city’s tourism promotion through the Tourism and Conventions Committee (COTUCO).

María de los Ángeles Murillo, head of COTUCO Mexicali, highlighted that the event will bring together tourism and cultural authorities from across Baja California.

She also noted that special guests representing various areas of the tourism industry—such as business chambers, restaurants, hotels, tour operators, and sports organizations—will be in attendance.

Murillo explained that COTUCO will have a dedicated pavilion to showcase Mexicali’s tourism offerings. The spotlight will be on local cuisine, featuring grilled meats, Chinese food, and craft beer. Additionally, the city will promote its date production—as one of the region’s top producers—showcasing innovative products like date liquor and date ceviche.

The event will also highlight medical tourism and feature cultural performances, including a Chinese dragon dance and other artistic displays.
