The State Public Services Commission of Tijuana (CESPT) has completed a major upgrade of the Real de San Francisco Booster Station to ensure that water reaches 20,000 families in the East Zone with consistent and adequate pressure.
Mónica Vega Aguirre, CESPT’s General Director, personally oversaw the final phase of the project, which directly benefits a population of 20,694 people.
“These upgrades significantly strengthen the plant’s capacity to maintain an uninterrupted water supply to the communities it serves. The third pump allows us to perform routine maintenance without halting operations,” she said.
Booster stations play a vital role in the city’s water infrastructure by increasing pressure to push water through pipelines and into neighborhoods situated at higher elevations.
The third pump at the Real de San Francisco facility is designed to automatically activate whenever either of the two primary pumps requires servicing, reinforcing the station’s overall reliability.
The plant’s electrical control panel has also been fully automated, enabling pumps to start and stop based on real-time operational demands rather than relying on manual intervention.
In the valve area, protective mechanisms have been installed to prevent water backflow during power outages. This upgrade safeguards both pipelines and pumping equipment from sudden pressure surges.
