Ismael Burgueño Ruiz is emerging as the frontrunner for the 2027 gubernatorial race in Baja California, according to polling data reported by La Encuesta MX. Next year, 17 states across Mexico will hold elections for governor, and potential candidates are beginning to take shape.
In northern Mexico, political landscapes are mixed, though ruling parties tend to hold an edge. In states like Sonora, Baja California, and Baja California Sur, Morena leads, while races in Chihuahua and Nuevo León appear more competitive.
In Baja California, Morena currently leads party preference with 40.6%, followed by the PAN at 26.4%, PRI at 7.8%, Movimiento Ciudadano at 6.9%, local parties at 4.1%, PT at 3.9%, and the Green Party at 3.1%.

Within Morena, Burgueño tops the list of potential candidates with 29.9% support, although official nominations have not yet been announced. The poll reflects internal party preferences that could shape the 2027 election.
The survey, conducted by La Encuesta MX, was carried out via telephone with a representative sample of adults across the state from February 13–15.
