Baja California will add a new international flight connecting Tijuana and Vancouver, Canada, a move state officials say will strengthen air connectivity and expand access to key international markets.

Miguel Ángel Badiola Montaño, Baja California’s state tourism secretary, announced the new route during a morning briefing in Mexicali. He said the agreement was finalized in Madrid during the 2026 International Tourism Fair (FITUR), where the state took part.

The flight is expected to launch ahead of the 2026 winter season and is planned to operate at least once a week.

Badiola said Canada is a priority market for Baja California, pointing to higher average visitor spending, longer stays, and strong interest in the region’s food and cultural offerings.

He added that the agreement was made possible through coordination with the Pacific Airport Group (GAP), which provided logistical and operational support that helped secure the new route.

State officials said the new connection marks another step in expanding Baja California’s international air network, creating more opportunities to attract visitors and strengthen the state’s presence in global tourism markets.
