Rakún Café, a new coffee spot that opened in late January, is quickly gaining attention in Tijuana’s growing café scene. The shop is located near the Colonia Cacho area, between 11th Street and Agua Caliente Boulevard, a neighborhood known for its concentration of specialty coffee spots.
Since opening, Rakún Caffé has drawn customers with its warm atmosphere and inviting design, making it a comfortable place to work, catch up with friends, or simply linger over a drink. The menu is thoughtfully curated, with flavors that stand out without feeling overcomplicated.
Rocket the raccoon inspires the concept
Beyond its drinks and décor, Rakún Café’s most distinctive feature is the story behind its name. The café is inspired by Rocket, a raccoon owned by founder Jazmín. Rocket was adopted as a baby and is cared for under the appropriate permits. His name is a nod to the sharp-tongued character from Guardians of the Galaxy, known for his strong personality.

A community-focused space
Jazmín said one of her main goals is for Rakún Caffé to become an active part of Tijuana’s coffee community. The space is intended to host gatherings and creative activities that complement the café experience and encourage people to connect.

Rakún Café is located on the second floor of Verde Vida, another business owned by Jazmín. Guests can order food such as sandwiches and other dishes from Verde Vida and enjoy them in the café, adding to the overall experience.

The café also offers raccoon-themed merchandise, including T-shirts, hoodies, caps, plush toys, and other items that reinforce the brand’s identity. Among its drinks, one standout is the Ate de la Hoya, made with a lightly aromatic syrup and a smooth, balanced flavor.
For those looking to discover a new coffee spot in Tijuana, Rakún Café combines quality drinks, a relaxed setting, and an unusual backstory. On occasion, visitors may even spot Rocket alongside the café staff, a detail that has quickly become part of the café’s appeal.
