The Tijuana government is advancing its citywide transformation initiative, the “Tijuana: Clean City” program, with recent operations in the Otay Centenario and Sánchez Taboada delegations. Spearheaded by Mayor Ismael Burgueño, the latest efforts have directly benefited over 2,000 residents.

The program’s work began in the Fovissste 5 neighborhood, where crews focused on the Quetzalcóatl Primary School. Services included repainting speed bumps, refreshing road markings, upgrading public streetlights to energy-efficient LED technology, and pruning trees. These improvements are set to impact more than 500 students, teachers, and local families.

Delegate Claudia Casas Valdez led an on-site inspection of the completed work, joined by school staff and parents to assess the upgrades.

The initiative then moved to the Sánchez Taboada neighborhood, where teams cleaned a major storm drain on Piña Street, hauling away an estimated eight tons of accumulated waste. Additional work included repairing streetlights and applying new road markings. This phase of the program provided benefits to approximately 1,500 area residents.

Sánchez Taboada Delegate Teresa García supervised these cleanup actions alongside community members who will see the direct impact.
