Tijuana Businesses Expect 45% Sales Spike for Mother’s Day

Businesses in Tijuana are preparing for Mother's Day, with sales expected to rise as much as 45% compared to normal weeks.

Florists, jewelry stores, department stores, and restaurants are among the sectors set to see the heaviest traffic leading up to Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10th in Tijuana.

According to estimates from the local commercial sector, the surge in activity will be driven not only by local shoppers but also by visitors from California, Nevada, and Arizona. Many residents from those states traditionally cross the border to celebrate with their families in Tijuana.

According to Julian Palombo Saucedo, National Councilor of Concanaco Servytur, the region’s border dynamism continues to fuel commercial activity with sales outlook up to 45% higher than typical weeks.

Palombo Saucedo added that Tijuana is steadily consolidating its reputation as a go-to destination for residents of the southern United States, who are drawn to the city’s wide range of dining, shopping, and entertainment options for special occasions.

The increased spending directly benefits thousands of local families who depend on the commercial and service sectors, he said, while also strengthening the broader economy and supporting employment in the region.
