Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz is urging residents to take part in the “Tijuana: Clean City” program, a citywide effort focused on neighborhood cleanups and basic infrastructure improvements through coordinated city work and community involvement.
The initiative is already underway in several parts of the city. In the San Antonio de los Buenos district, milling work on Francisco Zarco Avenue in the Xicoténcatl Leyva neighborhood is expected to benefit more than 3,000 residents. City officials said residents can submit cleanup or maintenance requests through their local delegations, which are reviewed and scheduled on a monthly basis.
In Playas de Tijuana, crews carried out road grading, installed new streetlights, cleared a stream, and removed about five tons of trash in the Granjas Familiares neighborhood. Green spaces in the area were also cleaned and weeded, benefiting roughly 1,000 residents.

City Councilwoman Michel García Arceo said the effort reflects the administration’s focus on visible, neighborhood-level improvements.
“This shows that the city is turning commitments into action,” she said, adding that the goal is to strengthen community well-being across Tijuana.
Later in the day, work continued in the Altamira neighborhood of Downtown Tijuana, where crews cleared vegetation and removed another five tons of debris along a slope near the Javier Bátiz ramp. Officials said the cleanup will improve conditions for about 3,500 residents.

State Rep. Mónica Padilla Villaveláquez also encouraged residents to get involved, saying community participation is essential to the program’s success.
“It starts at home, with our street and our neighborhood,” she said.

Delegation leaders from San Antonio de los Buenos, Playas de Tijuana, and Downtown Tijuana joined city public works staff, auditors, and local residents in the cleanup efforts.
