The closing ceremony of the “IMDET 2026 Vacation Plan” was led this Friday by Tijuana Mayor Abdiel Gutiérrez Coronado.
Organized by the Municipal Institute of Sport of Tijuana (IMDET), the initiative sought to promote physical activity, healthy social interaction, and a comprehensive development among more than 500 children through a diverse range of sporting, recreational, and educational activities.
During his address, Gutiérrez Coronado emphasized the value of creating environments where children can make positive use of their leisure time, cultivate enduring healthy habits, and grow in settings that encourage respect, teamwork, and shared values.
“We are truly delighted because we have turned sports facilities into safe, welcoming spaces. When the community uses them, these venues come to life and when they come to life, they gain real purpose,” said Abdiel Gutierrez.

IMDET Recognizes Participants and Staff
César Aramis González Guerrero, Director of IMDET, formally acknowledged the dedication, effort, and progress shown by the more than 500 young participants, while also commending the work of the instructors, coordinators, and support staff who made the program possible.
As part of the closing event, attendees enjoyed demonstrations of various sports disciplines, alongside a symbolic recognition ceremony for participants grouped in the Hormiguitas (Little Ants), Linces (Lynxes), Gacelas (Gazelles), Mapaches (Raccoons), and Tigres (Tigers) categories.
The ceremony also celebrated the strong commitment of the children’s families and the invaluable efforts of the institute’s personnel throughout the program.

The “IMDET 2026 Vacation Plan” unfolded across multiple sports facilities in the municipality, offering children a structured space to engage in activities centered on promoting active and healthy lifestyles.
The program placed a strong emphasis on instilling core values, including respect, discipline, collaboration, and harmonious coexistence among peers.
The event was attended by Wendy Xiomara Camargo Gastélum, Coordinator of the Vacation Plan at the CREA Sports Facility, along with program participants, parents, and instructors.
